- Digital Equipment's software manufacturing (media replication, packaging, etc)
- and distribution for all of Europe is done in Galway, Ireland and they can
- handle custom pressing of CDs for you. They can also handle the mastering
- of at least Ultrix and VMS CDROMs and probably other formats as well.
-
- From the description of what you are trying to do, it sounds like you are
- looking for a low volume process. I'm not sure about the prices, but I
- know that it is cheap enough to make it financially attractive for something
- as trivial as having a CDROM pressed to so that a disk drive supporting a
- read-only archive can be retired to save the maintenance costs. I think
- I've heard prices in the $300-400 range for this process, but that may be
- way off.
-
- If you are interested in volume runs, the prices drop to around $5 per disk
- for moderate volumes and $1.50 or so for high volumes.
-
- I don't have a contact handy, but I'll dig one up for you and send it on.
- If you want to just call the main switchboard and see if they can direct
- you, the number is 091 57651. Perhaps if you're quick enough, you can
- even arrange to hand deliver the data during Galway Race Week (purely to
- make sure that the tape arrives safely of course :-).
