  21. One slight clarification.  It is my understanding that you CAN sue for
  22. damages for copyright infringment without registering.  What you CAN'T
  23. sue for is your attorneys' fees.

  25. This may sound like a small point, but it can make the difference in
  26. whether a small outfit can prosecute a larger company.  The lawyers of
  27. the larger company may be much more willing to push it if they know
  28. that a copyright has not been filed.
