- in general doesn't pen as a prefix mean almost (from paene meaning
- almost in latin), hence penumbra, peninsular, penultimate etc. A
- smattering of greek helps avoid asking questions like "What's a
- tagon?" :-)

- Does perl attract people with more 'rounded' interests than usual
- programming languages do? I certainly revel in the difficulty
- programs have parsing perl while people like Larry, Tom, and Randal
- can just glance at a fragment of perl and tell me what I thought it
- should do, what it really does, and whether I was in a good mood when I
- wrote it.
