  27. 1. Besides being biased (the report was produced by government contractors,
  28. and "The customer is ALWAYS right."), that summarry is over a year old.
  29. The reports from which it is summarized are older than that.  However,
  30. "The Powers That Be" are still quoting it as current.  (See the Straussman
  31. speech at the last Software Technology Conference.)

  33. 2. Those who mandate the usage of the standard don't have to use it.  Congress
  34. deals in legal code (not at all like computer code), and President Bush just
  35. learned to use a computer less than two years ago and is supprised by the
  36. technology in supermarket scanners.  Besides, ask any parent how effective it
  37. is to give someone a mandate.  (There is much more to be said against the
  38. mandate, but that can be said later.)

  40. 3. Did you notice in the summary that C++ does better in compile-time and
  41. run-time speed, but Ada is better for real-time?  Aren't run-time speed and
  42. real-time performance the same thing?  I wonder what other glaring errors
  43. were made in the reports that didn't make it through to the summary.

  45. Oh, and before anyone thinks that I'm a C++ bigot let me tell you: I've never
  46. used C++, but I use Ada at work.  I'd rather not use Ada.
