  24.    ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

  26.    Learned Information  Ltd, organizer  of  the  world-renowned
  27.    International On-line  Information Meeting  series, and  the
  28.    International   Center    for   Scientific   and   Technical
  29.    Information (ICSTI) have once again collaborated to organize
  30.    the 2nd  East-West On-line  Information Meeting  which  will
  31.    take place at ICSTI premises in Moscow from 30 September - 2
  32.    October 1992.
  33.    Following on  from the  success of the 1st East-West On-line
  34.    Information Meeting  in  Moscow  in  October  1989  and  the
  35.    continuing progress  being made politically and economically
  36.    in the  former Soviet  Union, Learned  Information and ICSTI
  37.    have deemed  that the time is now right for a second meeting
  38.    to maintain  momentum and  to meet  the growing  interest in
  39.    advanced information systems in Eastern Europe.

  41.    This 2nd  East-West On-line Information Meeting will combine
  42.    the  now   familiar  and   successful  mix   of   conference
  43.    presentations, product  reviews,  exhibition  and  satellite
  44.  workshops, in  addition to  the unique deal making and joint
  45.    venture session so well received at the first event in 1989.

  47.    Once again the conference will promote the broad scientific,
  48.    technical  and   business   information   contacts   between
  49.    organizations and  companies from  West and  East and  major
  50.    themes will  cover business  and financial  information, on-
  51.    line access  and information  delivery, networking and other
  52.    topics of a practical nature.

  55.    ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
  56.  
  57.    Learned Information  Ltd has  established  reputation  as  a
  58.    quality   publishing    and   conference   house   for   the
  59.    international industry  and, since  the early 1970s, has led
  60.    the way in the provision of information for the community as
  61.    a whole - not least with the continued success of the annual
  62.    International On-line  and National On-line Meetings held in
  63.    London and  New York.  In addition  to  expansive  range  of
  64.    books, journals, newspapers, newsletters and CHARMS, Learned
  65.    Information is  also well  respected  as  publisher  of  the
  66.    internationally-acclaimed  Information   World  Review,  the
  67.    monthly  newspaper  for  information  professionals  of  all
  68.    levels.
  69.    ICSTI  -   the  International   Center  for  Scientific  and
  70.    Technical Information is the only international organization
  71.    in the C.I.S. and Eastern Europe specializing in information
  72.    technology and  service. It  was founded in 1969 and now has
  73.    10 countries  and several associated members(nongovernmental
  74.    level of  cooperation). ICSTI  designs software packages for
  75.    the  information   systems  used   in  libraries,   database
  76.    publications, computer networks, etc. ICSTI has 21 databases
  77.    assembled from  the reliable  sources of scientific research
  78.    and  knowledge.   ICSTI   is   experienced   in   organizing
  79.    conferences, exhibitions, seminars and training courses.
