- Several months ago, I reported on the availablility of Micro-Emacs 3.11
- and the "C" patch.
-
- Basically, I had found that patches are cummulative, so only the
- original 3.11 distribution and the 3.11C patch files where needed to
- generate a 3.11c ( A & B patches being included in patch C).
-
- I also concluded that the standard diff files that make up the patches
- where somehow flawed, so 'patch' frequently places the patches in the
- wrong places during installation.
-
- Well, there now exists at the Programmer's Room, (317)742-5533, a
- program called FIXEMACS.ZIP in the uEmacs file section which properly
- installs the 311c patches. The program was written by M.L. Moser in
- June, 1992. It is written for Turbo C, but gcc compiles it quite
- nicely. Quite bizarre that someone had to write a 393 line program to
- install a set of patch files, but so it goes. Many thanks to him.
-
- Whether the purdue ftp site has it, I don't know. If anyone wants the
- fixemacs.c and fixemacs.doc from me, it is 8K compressed, uuencoded and
- I will mail it to as many people as I can. If too many people request
- it, I may have to post this bad boy.
-
- BTW, 3.11C does not fix the unix.c TERM struct vs. estruct.h TERM struct
- initialization misalignment problem. You still have to fix that by
- hand.
