  11. Several months ago, I reported on the availablility of Micro-Emacs 3.11
  12. and the "C" patch.

  14. Basically, I had found that patches are cummulative, so only the
  15. original 3.11 distribution and the 3.11C patch files where needed to
  16. generate a 3.11c ( A & B patches being included in patch C).

  18. I also concluded that the standard diff files that make up the patches
  19. where somehow flawed, so 'patch' frequently places the patches in the
  20. wrong places during installation.

  22. Well, there now exists at the Programmer's Room, (317)742-5533, a
  23. program called FIXEMACS.ZIP in the uEmacs file section which properly
  24. installs the 311c patches.  The program was written by M.L. Moser in
  25. June, 1992.  It is written for Turbo C, but gcc compiles it quite
  26. nicely. Quite bizarre that someone had to write a 393 line program to
  27. install a set of patch files, but so it goes.  Many thanks to him.

  29. Whether the purdue ftp site has it, I don't know.  If anyone wants the
  30. fixemacs.c and fixemacs.doc from me, it is 8K compressed, uuencoded and
  31. I will mail it to as many people as I can.  If too many people request
  32. it, I may have to post this bad boy.

  34. BTW, 3.11C does not fix the unix.c TERM struct vs. estruct.h TERM struct
  35. initialization misalignment problem.  You still have to fix that by
  36. hand.
