  12. I have just run across a similar problem, with a US Robotics modem and
  13. a 3B2 computer. It turned out that the problem was not with the modem,
  14. but with the speed that the computer was able to sustain. I couldn't get
  15. anything better than approx. 500 cps on a V.32/V.42 link.

  17. Moving the modem to another computer that had more power gave me 800+ cps,
  18. which is what I would expect.

  20. So maybe You should try to attach a terminal/PC directly to the RS6000 and
  21. see, what throughput You are able to get from that. If it cannot go any
  22. higher that the 600 cps You have ssen with the modem, than clearly the
  23. problem lies not with the modem, but with the computer.
