- I have just run across a similar problem, with a US Robotics modem and
- a 3B2 computer. It turned out that the problem was not with the modem,
- but with the speed that the computer was able to sustain. I couldn't get
- anything better than approx. 500 cps on a V.32/V.42 link.

- Moving the modem to another computer that had more power gave me 800+ cps,
- which is what I would expect.

- So maybe You should try to attach a terminal/PC directly to the RS6000 and
- see, what throughput You are able to get from that. If it cannot go any
- higher that the 600 cps You have ssen with the modem, than clearly the
- problem lies not with the modem, but with the computer.
