- What? They've been calling you for a PEP connection, but they
- have *not* been setting S50=255 in their modems when they call?

- Simply have them set S50=255 S7=60 in the modem, and make sure their
- dialer will wait long enough to make the connection. They'll be
- able to connect in PEP mode and your non-Telebit callers will also
- be able to connect.

- Others will give you the setting to disable the echo canceller
- modifications, I'm sure. Without knowing more about who calls
- you, I think the above is a better all-round solution.

- are for the SDLC synchronous mode. All the registers except for
- S255, that is...
