  11. We have a Codex-Motorola 3266 modem which can operate in V.32bis.  Our
  12. connection to Internet is thru UUNET Technologies. We have attempted
  13. connecting this modem  in  the 4-wire leased line mode to a Telebit
  14. T3000 modem at the other end in V.32bis. From the LCD panel of our
  15. modem we have observed that while negotiating an error-correcting
  16. connection, our modem receives a retraining request from the T3000
  17. modem.  So both modems begin retraining, and the connection negotiation
  18. starts from the beginning. The retraining request is sent by the T3000
  19. even though it is disabled on the modem.

  21. The noise level on the line has been measured by our collegues at UUNET
  22. and they feel that it is at a level that should not hamper both modems
  23. to establish a V.32bis connection.

  25. We request suggestions and/or ideas to make this V.32bis connection
  26. work.

  28. The physical connectivity is as follows: From Bombay we are 4-wire upto
  29. ITMC, New York. From there the circuit is two wire upto UUNET.
