- We have a Codex-Motorola 3266 modem which can operate in V.32bis. Our
- connection to Internet is thru UUNET Technologies. We have attempted
- connecting this modem in the 4-wire leased line mode to a Telebit
- T3000 modem at the other end in V.32bis. From the LCD panel of our
- modem we have observed that while negotiating an error-correcting
- connection, our modem receives a retraining request from the T3000
- modem. So both modems begin retraining, and the connection negotiation
- starts from the beginning. The retraining request is sent by the T3000
- even though it is disabled on the modem.
-
- The noise level on the line has been measured by our collegues at UUNET
- and they feel that it is at a level that should not hamper both modems
- to establish a V.32bis connection.
-
- We request suggestions and/or ideas to make this V.32bis connection
- work.
-
- The physical connectivity is as follows: From Bombay we are 4-wire upto
- ITMC, New York. From there the circuit is two wire upto UUNET.
