  24. Indeed, that is the case.  As per a note I received from
  25. Donald.Stoye@eng.sun.com (Donald Stoye who questioned PPI and got the
  26. following response:

  28.    I fear that there is some misunderstanding about the &T19 command.
  29.    This is NOT a command which can be used from the command line and
  30.    given directly to the modem by manually typing. It is a time
  31.    sensitive situation and MUST have software support. The only
  32.    communications program which currently supports this test is
  33.    SmartCom Exec from Hayes. This command requires software support
  34.    and it works properly when that software support is available.

  38.    As I noted to you in a prior reply the "AT&T19 error" is not an
  39.    error at all. The &T19 test requires software support. This is not
  40.    clear from the documentation, but that is the case. It cannot be
  41.    used from the command line manually.

  44. and recognized it as a BUG rather than a FEATURE.
