- Well, I'm finally getting the hang of this new modem. However,
- it has been somewhat of a black art getting the modem and comm
- software settings to work.
-
- I'm using Telix 3.15, CTS/RTS flow control enabled, 9600 DCE speed
- with DTE set to 57600. I'm getting pretty decent throughput with
- Zmodem (980-1200 cps compressed binaries). And, for those of you
- keeping up with PPI's EPROM whims, I've got the 1.12c firmware. :)
-
- However, I'm fiddling around with some of the tests, and I notice that
- I fail the "RTS/CTS cable test" with an "ERROR" result (vs. an "OK").
- (This test is initiated with "AT&T19".)
-
- I've got a standard "9PN TO HAYES MODEM" cable (per the one that came
- with the modem from PC Connection) for use with my Zenith 286LP.
-
- Is this not the right modem cable to have? Would I be better off
- making a new cable? Or, is there a problem with the firmware that is
- causing this test to fail??
-
- Also, does anyone know if I can upgrade my UART in this box?? It's
- just a lowly Zenith AT (a glorified terminal :) with 16450 UARTs on
- both COM ports (no FIFO buffers). Can I get better performance with
- an upgrade?
-
- Thanks!
