- Well, I got my Supra 14.4 modem the other day. Was real disappointed when
- it didn't work! Talked to their Tech support (which I found to be VERY
- helpful) and was convinced to try it on a friend's machine. The modem
- worked quite well....made two 14.4/LAPM connects and assorted 2400/MNP5
- and "plain jane" 2400 connects. I had a little trouble with the
- over-responsive BUSY detect (remedied by putting a comma or two after the
- phone number) and the carrier not dropping (fixed that in initialization
- string). Apparently, I have a bad serial card and/or UART chip.
-
- My question to the group concerns where one might recommend that I find a
- new serial I/O card for my XT clone. I need a card that has one or two
- RS232C ports (at least one of them with a 16550AFN installed), & a printer
- port. If possible, a clock and game port would also be nice (although I
- could do without the game port <G>). I have no problem finding this for
- a 80386+ machine, but many folks here no longer carry an XT card that
- doesn't already have an 8250B or 16450 UART soildered in....if they carry
- any XT parts at all! <G>
-
- Thanks!
