  22. You may have to set your modem to blind dialling.  'Tis true that the phone
  23. lines use different frequencies in different countries, so your modem may
  24. not recognise that the call is progressing ok.  You don't say what the 
  25. fault symptoms are.

  27. On the other hand, at all speeds 2400 bps and up, the modems' tones are the 
  28. same the world over.  (I think  :)
