- I was asked to post this note from UDS, in response to a problem
- noted awhile ago on the PPP mailing list. I thought it would also be
- appropriate here as well. The text is verbatim per their release.
-
- "An incompatibility has recently been discovered when a
- UDS V.3225 modem running MNP is used in a specific asynchronous
- application [read, a certain vendor's PPP product]. Changing
- async character format after a call has been established will
- result in incorrect data characters being received. This will occur
- when a call is established by AT dialing at 7E1 (7 data, even
- parity, 1 stop) and then changing to 8N1 once the modems have
- gone "ON LINE." This incompatibility exists only when MNP is enabled
- and only on V.3225 modems with firmware versions prior to 2.08.08.
- When equipped with 2.08.08 the modem can be enabled to pass the
- parity bit unchanged by setting S72, bit 5 (decimal 32). UDS
- Motorola will provide an upgrade to 2.08.08 for users with this
- particular application. For further information contact UDS
- Technical Support at 1-800-221-4380."
-
- I've now done my good deed for the day... :-)
