  14. CONTROL OF INGRES SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ON UNIX

  16. We have to develop our applications on the same unix box as
  17. we run them live.
  18.  
  19. What we are looking for is the best way of setting up the live and
  20. development environments so that it is easy to control the development
  21. environment and to move a new version to live.

  23. Source code control can only cover part of an application. e.g. not
  24. forms control.    Also we seem to be forced to use absolute pathnames.
  25. e.g. help files.

  27. We have tried using different database names and owners for live and
  28. development but this causes problems,.

  30. How do other people do it?
  31. Recommended reading and suggestions welcome.
