Does anybody have any technical information regarding the internal
format of Informix .FRM files. The reason I'm asking is because of a
problem I've discovered with .PER files which does'nt allow fields of
variable length, ie. The length of the field is'nt known until run
time and the only way we've found of getting around the problem is by
keeping loads of .PER files which are all the same apart from the
length of the field.

If you can think of another way around this problem (maybe an easier
way), I would be very grateful.
