  16. This shareware utility can replace the following DOS-utilities:
  17. - MSDOS's DIR-command
  18. - Nortons System Information (at least old versions)
  19. - speedram.com, speed.exe and others that adjustes the DRAM refreshrate
  20.  
  21. The program includes the following utilities:
  22. - A colorcoded display of files in current directory or in all sub-
  23.   directories. Listing is by default displayed in five columns and
  24.   is automatically paused for every screen. The colors used may be
  25.   changed by the user.
  26. - System information screen showing the following and much more:
  27.         - Computer type and math copreossessor presence
  28.         - Videotype and mode
  29.         - Disk drive types, total size and free space
  30.         - Mouse information
  31.         - Base and Extended memory (free/total)
  32.         - Extended (XMS) and Expanded (EMS) information
  33.          (versions/revisions, memory free/totally and more).

  35.  - Display three variants of ASCII-tables:
  36.        w/o colorchart, normal and with controlcode names
  37.  - Allows the user to change system speed by changing the DRAM refresh
  38.    rate. Also allows user to change videomode and cursor shape.
  39.  - List files through size, date or attribute filters. Allows the user
  40.    to, for example, list files made since yesterday or writeprotected
  41.    files larger than 111268 bytes.
  42.  - Optionally shows file attributes and date using litteral month.
  43.    This means that a file may be displayed like this
  44.      xdir.exe 77446 12JUN92 12:45 --ra  (--ra means readonly+archive)
  45.  - Is configurable in many ways including default commandline switches
  46.    (i.e. -a) and directory aliases allowing quick access to any
  47.    directory. XDIR also automatically change the current working
  48.    directory to the one specified on the commandline-if not otherwise
  49.    instructed. It can also optionally change the current drive.
