- Of course, we software people conspire to make sure that as faster
- machines become available, we write bigger and more powerful software to
- use up that extra speed. Our latest successful operation was GUI's.
- In a few years, the hardware guys may manage to make even X+OL or X+motif
- acceptably fast, and we'll either add another layer on top, or add speech
- recognition (now there's an infinite cycle suck!), or real 3-d windows, or
- VR, or some such until we've put those chip designers back in their places...
- We're not sure if object orientation will suck enough cycles to make our
- time invested in it worthwhile - maybe we'll have to use more run-time binding
- ... ;-) ;-)
