- Hi! The Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART) systems including ART1, ART2,
- ART3, Fuzzy ART, ARTMAP, and Fuzzy ARTMAP, all create new recognition
- code (new node) when a new pattern does not fit into those learned
- patterns. They however, only add nodes but not layers.

- The cascade-correlation algo of Scott Fahlman adds a new node which
- also forms a new layer. The new node is created to reduce the
- residue error to the minimum.
