- Probably for a number of reasons. The paths tend to be multi-purpose, with
- pedestrians, slow recreational riders, unpredictable riders, etc, who don't mix
- safely with faster cyclists. Many paths aren't designed properly, preventing
- an unobstructed view far enough ahead for faster cycling. The paths also cross
- other paths and roadways, forming uncontrolled intersections, and no one
- expects cyclists to slow down for them (too many don't).
