- TI ASIC technology supports military VHDL designers.
-
- MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. May 11, 1992 Synopsys Inc. today announced that
- the military ASIC group of Texas Instruments has adopted the VHDL System
- Simulator* for integration into their ASIC design flow. TI will supply
- certified VHDL macrocell libraries and interfaces to their physical
- design and sign-off environment.
-
- TI and Synopsys have planned a two-stage development enabling customers
- early availability of functional libraries for design validation.
- Full timing and back-annotation support will be deployed in a design
- kit release planned for late 1992. The typical design flow will enable
- VHDL designers to specify and validate ASIC based systems, synthesize
- to TI technology, and verify functionality and performance within the
- Synopsys environment.
-
- "TI's customers want a methodology in which the power of VHDL is leveraged
- throughout the design cycle. The support of TI technology on Synopsys'
- VHDL System Simulator provides the foundation for VHDL-based systems
- development. A clear path to silicon from VHDL will enable more systems
- designers to take advantage of TI's ASIC technology," said Tom Smith,
- business development manager for TI's military ASIC group.
-
-
- The agreement reflects the growing support for Synopsys' VHDL capability
- in the military community. "TI's support of VHDL System Simulator
- is extremely important for our mutual customers. High-level design
- techniques and VHDL, backed by TI technology, represent a powerful
- combination for handling the complexity and performance demands
- designers are facing," added Andrea Bush, semiconductor program manager
- for Synopsys.
