  11. TI ASIC technology supports military VHDL designers.

  13. MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.  May 11, 1992  Synopsys Inc. today announced that
  14. the military ASIC group of Texas Instruments has adopted the VHDL System
  15. Simulator* for integration into their ASIC design flow.  TI will supply
  16. certified VHDL macrocell libraries and interfaces to their physical
  17. design and sign-off environment.

  19. TI and Synopsys have planned a two-stage development enabling customers
  20. early availability of functional libraries for design validation.
  21. Full timing and back-annotation support will be deployed in a design
  22. kit release planned for late 1992.  The typical design flow will enable
  23. VHDL designers to specify and validate ASIC based systems, synthesize
  24. to TI technology, and verify functionality and performance within the
  25. Synopsys environment.

  27. "TI's customers want a methodology in which the power of VHDL is leveraged
  28. throughout the design cycle.  The support of TI technology on Synopsys'
  29. VHDL System Simulator provides the foundation for VHDL-based systems
  30. development.  A clear path to silicon from VHDL will enable more systems
  31. designers to take advantage of TI's ASIC technology," said Tom Smith,
  32. business development manager for TI's military ASIC group.

  35. The agreement reflects the growing support for Synopsys' VHDL capability
  36. in the military community.  "TI's support of VHDL System Simulator
  37. is extremely important for our mutual customers.  High-level design
  38. techniques and VHDL, backed by TI technology, represent a powerful
  39. combination for handling the complexity and performance demands
  40. designers are facing," added Andrea Bush, semiconductor program manager
  41. for Synopsys.
