-
- TB> I have been given this address as a possible source of info concerning
- TB> statistical packages commonly in use in epidemiologic and medical related
-
- Some specific titles that come to mind are:
-
- EGRET
- Very powerful set of analytical and graph-building tools. Includes
- state-of-the-art statistical algorithms for regression and survival
- analysis. Includes StatXact (for exact estimation) as an optional add-on.
- EPILOG
- Pretty much the same as above.
- EpiInfo
- Written by CDC. Less powerful, suitable for investigation of epidemics, has a
- text editing module to aid in the design of questionnaires. Inexpensive.
- True EpiStat
- Powerful, evolved from a shareware concept.
-
- The above are specialized programs. The epidemiologist's arsenal may
- also include GLIM and one or more of the traditional heavy-duty
- number crunchers, such as SPSS, SAS, Systat, BMDP, etc.
-
- The EpiWare library of The Epidemiology Monitor (a newsletter for
- epidemiologists) maintains a collection of public domain and shareware
- epi programs that come very handy too. Write to:
-
- The Epidemiology Monitor (they charge a US$ 5.00 handling fee
- Software Library per program plus US$ 2.00 if ordered
- 2560 Whisper Wind Ct. from outside the U.S.A.)
- Roswell, GA 30076, U.S.A.
-
- Check also the latest issues of the American Journal of Epidemiology or of
- Epidemiology for ads re: some of the above packages. You'll find the
- addresses you need there.
