  12.          I recently purchased the document "SAS/ASSIST Software:
  13. Your Interface to the SAS System" (Version 6.06, 1st Ed., 1990, $9.95).
  14. I find it almost wholly worthless.  Others may have different views.
  15. What it illustrates is the domination of a marketing ethos over an
  16. educational one.  The publication seems, like so many commercial
  17. software manuals, more intended to sell a product to a busy executive.
  18. He will never use it, but his secretarial assistant might.  It is
  19. largely uninformative describing the wonders that the user can
  20. accomplish but not actually telling him how to do it.
  21.            It is done slickly on expensive papers with lots of
  22. multicolored screen graphics (red, white, blue and yellow) on black
  23. in a font so small that only eagles and adolescents can possibly
  24. read them (for what they are worth - which is little) without
  25. magnifying glasses.
  26.            I would strongly reccommend that no one purchase this
  27. unfortunate document and invest the money in some of their much
  28. more worthwhile manuals.
