- I recently purchased the document "SAS/ASSIST Software:
- Your Interface to the SAS System" (Version 6.06, 1st Ed., 1990, $9.95).
- I find it almost wholly worthless. Others may have different views.
- What it illustrates is the domination of a marketing ethos over an
- educational one. The publication seems, like so many commercial
- software manuals, more intended to sell a product to a busy executive.
- He will never use it, but his secretarial assistant might. It is
- largely uninformative describing the wonders that the user can
- accomplish but not actually telling him how to do it.
- It is done slickly on expensive papers with lots of
- multicolored screen graphics (red, white, blue and yellow) on black
- in a font so small that only eagles and adolescents can possibly
- read them (for what they are worth - which is little) without
- magnifying glasses.
- I would strongly reccommend that no one purchase this
- unfortunate document and invest the money in some of their much
- more worthwhile manuals.
