  15. You can now begin to prepare for Release 5.1. The footers in OPAC will be
  16. standardized in this next release (see NOTISes January 1992 p.8-9), providing
  17.  users with consistent commands and support of the NISO Common command language.
  18.   To prepare for this standardization, you will need to evaluate the EXPLAIN,
  19.  HELP, and OTHER informational screens to determine how the upcoming 5.1 changes
  20.  will effect your site's screens.

  22. All screens will be 15 lines long except where a longer command line is
  23.  necessary.  For those screens, the length will be 13 lines long.  This will
  24.  allow for two additional command input lines.

  26. Which screens will change effect? All of the EXPLAIN and OTHER informational
  27.  screens with the exception of the EXPLAIN KEYWORD and SET CATALOT PANEL (which
  28.  is a
  29. new 5.1 screen), will have 15 lines.  The EXPLAIN KEYWORD and SET CATALOG PANEL,
  30.  as well as the REVIEW help screen will be 13 lines.

  32. Release 5.1 conversion will delete any of the lines beyond than the 15th or
  33.  13th.  Because of this, NOTIS recommends thay you begin reviewing the current
  34.  screens that you are using in your production modules. Changes may need to be
  35.  made in
  36. anticipation of the 5.1 conversion.  This will alleviate losing information on
  37.  the screens when they are shortened during conversion.

  39. To maintain consistency throughout the database, the REVIEW PANEL wording will
  40.  be deleted from the current review screen.  Patrons having difficulty with a
  41.  search will use a HELP screen.  The wording on your 5.0 REVIEW PANEL screen can
  42.  be moved to the REVIEW HELP screen.

  44. By reviewing your EXPLAIN, OTHER informational, and HELP screens now you can
  45.  determine if the current wording needs to be changed or if additional pages
  46.  will be required.  Prepare not to alleviate any lost screen data in Release
  47.  5.1.
