- I don't know anything about Blum's program, but I can answer a couple
- of questions. First, the page frame must be a full 64K if you want to
- use EMS. That means for example that if the page frame begins at
- C000h it well extend to CFFFh, not C400h.
-
- Second, I have had very good luck on 386 systems in locating the page
- frame at E000h. If you are using a clone that has no ROM at this
- address, it will often function withough conflict and give you a lot
- of contiguous upper memory to use as UMBs.
-
- Third, I could be wrong but I seem to remember that you are using VGA.
- If so, then you won't be able to get both VGA color and the 64K extra
- DOS memory that Itamar mentions because your VGA card uses that first
- segment of memory above 640K as video RAM.
-
- And fourth, watch out when specifying *any* address below C800h when
- you have VGA in a system. Most of this area is either video RAM or
- video ROM on most VGA cards, and trying to use it without taking
- precautions is a good way to make trouble. Some memory managers will
- let you use some of it under certain carefully specified
- conditions--read the docs carefully and exercise caution when taking
- advantage of these features. They usually work, but they can be very
- touchy.
