  28.
  29. I've been enjoying the discussion of "dibs" and "chips", both of which I
  30. remember from my northern New Jersey childhood.  Also punchball.  But come-on,
  31. youse-guys (as we used to say), have some mercy on your friends and colleagues:
  32. use informative message subject-lines.  This morning five messages arrived with
  33. the heading "RE: SHIPPING NB 4.0" (a subject that's materially important to all
  34. of us, and of huge urgency to some of us); all of them turned out to be about
  35. "dibs" and "chips" (a minor amusement to some of us).  It's not that much
  36. effort to forego the "answer" command and address your own message, especially
  37. if you use a nickname facility.  If it's worth your time writing, and my time
  38. reading, it's worth an extra 10 seconds to change the title, if you're changing
  39. the subject.
