  22. The College Libraries, State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo,
  23. announce a professional vacancy for an Assistant Reference Librarian.

  38. POSITION
  39.  
  40.     Assistant Reference Librarian, with the rank of Assistant
  41.     Librarian/Senior Assistant Librarian, depending upon qualifications.

  43. POSITION DESCRIPTION
  44.  
  45.     Member, Information Services Division of the College Libraries.
  46.     Provides AFTERNOON and EVENING HOUR (at least three evenings until
  47.     10:00 p.m.) assistance to students, faculty and community residents
  48.     using new online catalog, CD-ROM databases and conventional print
  49.     sources.  Acts as professional advisor to 1.5 FTE support staff who
  50.     manages busy interlibrary loan department.  Additional
  51.     responsibilities include participation in reference collection
  52.     development, bibliographic instruction, and other related functions
  53.     as assigned.  Is responsible to the Head Reference Librarian.

  55. QUALIFICATIONS
  56.  
  57.     Required:  ALA accredited MLS degree and interlibrary loan
  58.     experience.  Desirable:  Academic reference experience, bibliographic
  59.     instruction experience, knowledge of library computer applications,
  60.     natural science or social science background.  Appointee MUST be
  61.     willing to assume AFTERNOON-EVENING schedule.  Weekend work is
  62.     assigned on a rotating schedule.

  64. SALARY
  65.  
  66.     $23,400 or $26,900 for 12-month professional obligation, depending
  67.     upon rank.

  71.     Liberal employee benefits include a choice of several retirement
  72.     program, optional individual or family health insurance plans, begin
  73.     with 15 vacation days accrued annually, and sick leave accumulated at
  74.     a rate of one and one-quarter days for each month worked. Standard

  79.     Earliest effective date for this appointment will be November 1992.
