- Following the discussion on tcp/ip and cdrom connectivity, I would
- like to know if anyone has had success going from the tcp/ip
- environment to DOS. George Beckett mentions several problems running
- netbios on top of tcp/ip as well as terminal emulation problems
- encountered when trying to telnet to a CD-ROM environment. It is
- evidently easier to go in the opposite direction--that is from DOS
- to tcp/ip. I have heard that is "possible" to encapsulate
- ipx when running tcp/ip, as long as you are using a pc, not a dumb
- terminal--but the main problem with this is speed. We have tried
- running a telnetd demon on a host DOS machine with partial success--
- the major problem encountered here is the terminal emulation. Telnet
- is not designed to display pc graphics.
