- I'm new to the Bay Area and have just moved into an apartment in Fremont. I'm
- not certain of which newspaper to subscribe.
-
- I've narrowed my choices to the SF Chronicle
- SF Examiner
- SJ Mercury News
- Argus
-
- I'm looking for a quality newspaper from front page up to the classifieds. I
- think I'm one of the few who actually reads most of the paper, including the
- front section, business, sports, comics, and "style/scene/living" sections.
- Since I'm new to the area, national news is more important to me than local
- news. And I'd prefer an afternoon paper but would be willing to let it sit
- all day if it's significantly better than the other papers.
-
- My initial impression: Argus is a superlocal paper that I don't need.
- SF Examiner is more 'tabloidish' than the Chronicle,
- but it comes in the afternoon. -its comic section
- really needs help.
- Chronicle gives up color for more substance. It's in
- the morning, but it has better (if fewer) comics.
- The SJ Merc News has supercomics but concentrates a
- lot on Silicon Valley (surprise).
-
- I'd appreciate your impressions/opinions/etc. Post responses or e-mail me
- if you think this is a waste of bandwidth.
