  12. I've just been reading a book in which the plural of "apparatus" is consistently
  13. taken to be "apparata."  The book consists of essays by several authors, and at
  14. least two of them do this.

  16. This annoys me terribly.  After all, if you insist on using Latin plurals for Latin
  17. words, the plural should be apparatus.  Even if you don't know Latin and are just
  18. guessing, "apparata" is a totally unreasonable guess.  ("Apparati" would at least
  19. be a sensible guess.)
