- While reading article <1992Jul22.164951.22822@umbc3.umbc.edu>, I noticed that
- alex@umbc4.umbc.edu (Alex S. Crain) said the following:
- > Yup. It's not the liberals fault that they're just more talented
- >then conservatives, though. If conservatives could spell better, then
- >maybe there would be more conservative writers.
-
- Please, let's not degenerate into a liberal/conservative spelling war.
-
- > Seriously: Why are reporters/editors so "liberal". Were they
- >brainwashed? Are conservatives really just morons? Maybe Elvis comes
- >down in a spaceship and touches journalists on the forehead, pushing
- >them leftward.
-
- I'm not sure. From what I saw when I was in school it just seems that liberals
- fit in better in the field and get along better with the predominantly liberal
- management (or at least editorial staffs) of most media outlets. The more
- liberal students, with their "never trust the government" and "we must help
- these poor <insert cause> folks" were smiled upon by their teachers and TAs,
- while the more conservative students were looked at as "brainwashed by the
- establishment."
-
- By the way, the school in question was the University of Wisconsin - Madison,
- and I knew J-school students that worked for both the Daily Cardinal (far left)
- and Badger Herald (far right).
-
- > This is better then the JFK assasination - maybe you can get
- >some right wing director to make it into a hit movie?
-
- Nah -- it's easier to just rewatch the _Nova_ episode from a few years ago.
