- <You guys are complaining about a $5 fee?
-
- Yup.
-
- <Is that for a whole year?
-
- Yup.
-
- <What a bargain!
-
- Nope.
-
- <Here at Yale, it costs $35 a month to park on campus. If you
- <are a student, it costs $60 a month. The parking office is even talking
- <about how generous they are because they haven't raised the rates from
- <last year.
-
- Hey, University of El Intercepted Paso, just down the road,
- charges almost that much; but they have to blow up a
- granite hill to make a parking lot, have I-10 for
- one boundary and the city of El Paso for the other boundary.
- When land is scarce, the price per unit area naturally
- increases.
-
- But in Enema Zoo terms:
- How many thousands of acres of empty land are part of
- the Yale campus? How many square miles of empty desert
- surround the Yale campus?
-
- It is quite peeveful to have to pay for the right to park
- in a sandlot, yet be told "sorry, we can't afford any
- security for the sand---er--parking lots". Considering
- that at one point last year, a car was stolen every
- DAY from this campus (and none recovered; Mexico is
- 1 class period (hour) down the Interstate) it's all
- just a bit much....
-
-
- It's even more peeveful to know that the Legislature,
- in its' finite wisdom, will in all probability cut
- the *instruction* budget by exactly the same amount
- of money that the parking fees bring in to the
- *physical* *plant* budget.
-
- "Ya got a new libarry, now ya want *books* as well"?
