  18. Peeve: the way the supposed "tv-hating peevers" (who despite declaring
  19.        their aversion to it seem quite up to date on exactly what's on
  20.        it at any particular moment in time) seem to class anyone who
  21.        admits to watching *any* TV whatsoever as a couch potato.

  28. Akshooly, Not Al has exactly *one* television, a small colour portable
  29. which...

  31. a) doesn't have a remote control at all.
  32. b) is switched on from 6.40am-7.25am and 10.00pm-10.15pm each weekday.
  33. c) is only actually *watched* for about 20 minutes of that time, usually
  34.    whilst doing something else.

  36. The *reason* it is watched is because there is *news* on at those times.
  37. Which allows me to keep abreast of events in the outside world, such as who
  38. has *died* during the day, who is fighting who etc.

  40. Different channels? Even if I was a couch potato, this is the UK, where
  41. unless you feel like investing in a satellite dish, you've got four
  42. channels and that's it. At the time of the morning I usually watch it I
  43. have a choice of the test card or a blank screen on one station, the BBC
  44. news on the other station, or the inaninity of the breakfast "news" on ITV
  45. or Channel 4.
