  18. RC aircraft are usually not scale, but they are models. The
  19. aerodynamics don't scale down very well, so different portions of the
  20. aircraft are in different scales. Some RC models have only the very basic
  21. fuselage shape of the original while the shapes of the wings and tail
  22. surfaces are grossly distorted so the damn thing will fly.

  24. The models that people discuss in alt.models are built to a single
  25. overall scale and, in fact, are miniatures of the real thing. I think
  26. rec.models.scale would be more appropriate. That is all I'm going to
  27. say about the name of the group (maybe...)

  36. If I see any more discussion on what the group should be named I'll
  37. just puke on my keyboard. What does it matter? Have you folks ever
  38. read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"?. In the book Pirsig
  39. spends a lot of time differentiating between people who are more
  40. concerned with the form/style of things and people who care more about
  41. the utility/function of things. Is the name of the group more
  42. important than the content? It is more important to get it in the rec
  43. hierarchy than to get the appropriate name! Stop it!
