  13. We plan to make selective-display work again once we finish a big cleanup of
  14. redisplay.  But it might only take a few hours to make selective-display work
  15. in the existing redisplay.  If any of you feel up to it, the relevant code 
  16. is display_text_line() in xdisp.c.  This kind of thing tends to go wrong at
  17. every possible juncture, so check it thoroughly before you decide that it
  18. works (enter selective-display mode 1, 2, 3, and 4 columns from the right
  19. margin, for example.)

  21. It will at least a couple of months before the new redisplay code is done;
  22. some other things have come up.
