  33. You are by far not the only one reporting this...
  34. Well *I* have actually encountered this problem during development and
  35. tried out several ways of fixing it. It seems to be a bug in the
  36. TextEdit toolbox, i.e. in the Mac System Software which seemingly
  37.  - redraws text inserted into an *INactive* window only in the portion
  38.    of the window which is the biggest rectangle inside the visible
  39.    region (i.e. not covered by other windows)
  40. and can be fixed with InvalRect'ing the whole window after an insert
  41. which causes an annoying flickering and therefore has been taken out.
  42. (Puh.) Switching windows causes an update of the windows just for this
  43. reason, as it would be unnecessary otherwise.

  45. According to the above description, this error should
  46. - appear only in windows being NOT active and
  47. - be possible to avoid by placing all windows non-overlapping.
  48. If it indeed does occur in an active window, there is still another
  49. bug which I should track down.

  55. are these IRC servers or FTP locations?
  56. For servers, this really should make no difference as the window
  57. problem is 100% a client programming issue.
  58. For FTPs, I can guarantee that all have an identical version of the
  59. program.

  72. I never had problems distinguishing these two things :-)

  74. Two other bugs have been reported (and are fixed). 
  75. - 'Cannot join channel' message appears twice
  76. - 'xxx has a connection to the twilight zone' message appears in the
  77. wrong window.
