- As far as original articles, most everyone quotes Ted Nelson's works and
- as well as those of Vannevar Bush. The best overall introduction to
- hypertext is, my opinion, that of Jeff Conklin in the Sept. 87 issue of
- IEEE Computer. It has a nice overview of available software (of the time)
- as well as a good historical perspective. He also has a bibliography
- which contains the other articles mentioned.
-
- You may also want to get the books "The Society of Text," editied by Ed
- Barret and "Hypermedia and Literary Studies" and "Hypertext: The
- Convergence of Contemporary Critical Theory and Technology" both by
- George P. Landow. None of these texts deal with technical issues of
- producing hypertext/hypermedia, but all of them deal -- quite well --
- with the issues of building hypertext, reading hypertext, and the impact
- of hypertext on pedagogy, reading, writing, etc.
