  17.     This is probably a simple question for you Xperts out there.  I
  18. looked in the FAQs for the approproate groups and RTFM until blue in the
  19. face...

  23.     X11R4 DECwindows (not Motif)

  25. Problem:

  27.     I ftp'd and untarred the xgopher-1.1 release (is this the most
  28. recent version?) and read the README file.  Then did an xmkmf.  No
  29. problems.  Then did a make depend and got:

  31. Make: Must be a separator on rules line 266.  Stop.
  32.  
  33. I checked the Makefile at line 266 and it's the definiton of emptyrule::
  34. that it dies on.  I've seen this error before but for the life of me can't
  35. figure out why it does this.  Is it something connected to DEC's less-than-
  36. standard setup for X windows stuff?  Is it something silly I'm missing in
  37. the Makefile?  My environment?  Phases of the moon?  :)

  39.     Any help would be appreciated as I'm stumped.  Please e-mail me
  40. and I will summarize to the net if there is enough interest.
