  46. Here are a couple suggestions for non-FTP users, followed by FTP.

  49. The Almanac information server, located at the Extension Service
  50. at Oregon State University, allows text retreival both through ftp
  51. and e-mail.  To retrieve a file via ftp:
  52.  
  53. ftp oes.orst.edu           (128.193.124.2)
  54. Log in as `anonymous' and your login name as a password.
  55. cd /pub/almanac/guten
  56. ls                         (to get a list of files)
  57. bin                        (to switch to binary mode)
  58. get filename               (where `filename' was one of the files listed)
  59. bye                        (when done)

  61. To retrieve a file via e-mail, first send the following line by
  62. itself to almanac@oes.orst.edu
  63.  
  64.      send gutenberg catalog
  65.  
  66. This will instruct you how to send further requests, and will list
  67. the available files.  For example, to retrieve _Alice's Adventures
  68. in Wonderland_, send to almanac@oes.orst.edu

  74. Bitnet users can also try BITFTP.  It is a server that will take an E-mail
  75. message from a BITNET site, and send corresponding commands to an FTP
  76. server, then send that file as a mail file to the BITNET user.
  77.         If anyone wants to try it, send just the word HELP in the body of
  78. the message to BITFTP@PUCC.

  80. We would also suggest you subscribe to the Project Gutenberg newletter by
  81. sending the following message from the address you wish to receive it at:
