  22. The latest issue of CompuServe magazine has an article about Playboy suing  
  23. some bloke in Portland, OR over copyrighted GIFs.  You all might want to  
  24. get your hands on it, since it has some information relevant to cases like  
  25. this.  The defense's case, as I understand it, is submitting that a public  
  26. BBS should be treated like one treats the US Mail--that the exchange of  
  27. files by individuals on the board cannot result in operator liability,  
  28. just as the US mail is not responsible for people who mail smack or kiddie  
  29. doggie porno or bombs to each other.
