  17. I think the best thing you can do for yourself is *CAREFULLY* limit
  18. who has access to what on your BBS.  For example, I live in a small
  19. town NW of Boston.  You may have read about the high school principal
  20. who placed hidden cameras in the boys room ??  Well, that was us.
  21. Some of the GIFs I have on-line would most likely curl the locals'
  22. hair.  I don't need grief from the neighbors so I limit access to the
  23. Adult areas of the BBS to callers out side my local area who can prove
  24. their age (via a license photocopy).  So far it has worked out well.
  25. The folks who do call in from the area see nothing that would suggest
  26. there's anything they might find offensive.

  35. The last complaint I received was from a woman whose 14 year old son
  36. lied about his age to get access.  That was before I moved to my
  37. present location and is the reason I started requiring photo id.
  38. Since then, not a peep from anyone.  On the other hand, I'm not naive
  39. enough to think that nothing COULD happen.  Just a few weeks ago a
  40. nearby system was raided by the FBI for carrying pirated software.
  41. The feds will NEVER learn so caution about what goes on your system
  42. and who has access is the best defense.

  46. Not really.  There are a few callers who grouse about restrictions but
  47. for the most part the experience has been pretty good.  There are the
  48. callers who call just to grab as much free stuff as they can but
  49. there's lots of callers who are willing to share their stuff too.
  50. I've had many conversations with pleasant folks who appreciate all the
  51. work that goes into maintaining the BBS.  Call sometime and look
  52. around (the number is in my .sig), see what you think.
