  3. Thanks for looking at Calc, the spreadsheet. What you have here is
  4. a *fully functional* demo copy of Calc. Although it has no features
  5. disabled, it will cease to function at the end of 1994. This should
  6. be sufficient time to examine Calc. If you need a copy after this,
  7. please read the Help file for CopyCalc (Available from the Filer
  8. menus).

  10. Calc is an established, fully RISC OS compatible spreadsheet. It has
  11. copying and sorting facilities, along with about 20 functions
  12. (including trigonometric, exponential, etc), plus various spreadsheet
  13. area functions.

  15. Using the mouse, formulae can be built up in the point-and-click style
  16. and formatting can be altered (including instant-effect draggable
  17. column widths). Alternatively, Calc can be almost completely keyboard
  18. driven, with function keys, and cursor keys which react according to
  19. your present activity.

  21. Calc's graphing facilities include four basic types (Bar, Line/Area,
  22. Stick, and pie chart), to which index labelling is added, as
  23. specified, from the sheet. Graphs are hot-linked to the sheet, so
  24. altering a number automatically changes the graph to match. Naturally
  25. these can be exported as sprites or drawfiles.

  27. Loading and saving files is very quick, typically hard-disk loading
  28. times are less than half a second for a medium sized sheet, or about 3
  29. seconds for a sheet with over 5000 entries. Since Calc saves its
  30. entire status along with the sheet, you can continue working from
  31. exactly where you left off. (Please remember you can't write to a CD!)

  33. Calc's 54 page manual largely comprises a tutorial taking you
  34. step-by-step through Calc's features. Calc has no copy protection, so
  35. installing it on a hard-disc, or taking a backup is as easy as
  36. dragging an icon.

  40. Above all, Calc is intended to be a clear, easy to use spreadsheet
  41. with extra functionality which doesn't get in the way.
