- Introduction
- ============
- These notes have been kept as brief as possible. They do not,
- therefore, tell you about all the features and facilities to be
- found in Poster.
-
- Loading Poster
- ==============
- This version of Poster uses CLib 3.75. Double click on the
- !Poster icon in the directory viewer to install Poster on the
- icon bar. Click on the icon bar icon to open a new document. If
- you see an error message concerning CLib you should perform a
- reset and then click on Poster's !System before loading Poster.
-
- Fonts
- =====
- Poster has 20 fonts but this demo version has one only. If you
- have your own set of fonts you may load them by clicking on your
- !Fonts directory either before Poster is installed or while it
- is in use.
-
- Examples
- ========
- These will be found in the Documents directory. Double click on a
- file to load it or drag it onto the Poster icon on the icon bar.
- These examples have been adapted to use the single font supplied
- on this disc.
-
- To view the TextAreas file supplied you need to have at least 32k
- of font cache, otherwise the fonts will be continuously read from
- disc, which will result in the file taking over 10 minutes to
- redraw!
-
-
- Function Key Strip
- =================
- Double click on KeyStrip. The document containing the Poster
- function key strip will be loaded. This requires the font
- supplied on this disc. If you are using your own fonts you can
- change the font style by clicking on the strip to select it and
- then choosing a new font from the menu [Text -> Font name].
- Install your printer driver and then press the Print key. You
- will see a small version of the document. Red lines indicate the
- edges of the pages. De-select both sets of Trim marks and select
- Rotate 90. This will ensure that the document fits onto a single
- sheet of paper.
-
- Printing
- ========
- A Poster document may be of any size. If it exceeds the size of
- the paper it will be printed on more than one sheet. The Trim
- marks assist in assembling the sheets. Overlap marks should be
- used if the pieces are to overlap and Butt marks if they are to
- be joined edge to edge. The size of each piece is determined by
- the printer driver page size. Individual pieces can be selected
- for printing: simply click on the pieces which are not to be
- printed.
-
- Saving
- ======
- Sorry. You can't save anything created with the demonstration
- version.
-
- Text
- ====
- There are four types of text.
-
- 1. NORMAL TEXT
- Enter some text [Text -> Enter text] and press Return. The text
- will appear in the bottom left corner of the window. It may now
- be moved, coloured, scaled and copied. It cannot have a line
- colour.
-
- 2. PATH TEXT
- Open the Paths directory and drag a Path onto your document.
- Select the Path by clicking on it. Choose the "Follow path"
- option and enter the text. This text is converted into a Drawn
- object which may be rotated and have a separate line colour. You
- may create your own Paths using !Draw.
-
- 3. MOULD TEXT
- Open the Moulds directory and drag a Mould onto your document.
- Select the Mould by clicking on it. Choose the "In a mould"
- option and enter the text. This text is converted into a Drawn
- object which may be rotated and have a separate line colour. You
- may create your own Moulds using !Draw.
-
- 4. TEXT AREAS
- Poster can create and edit text areas. Drag the ear at the
- bottom right to change the shape of the text. Use Text area menu
- to format and edit the text. Read the appropriate section on
- Draw in your Archimedes manual for more information on Text
- Areas.
-
- Moulding Drawn Objects
- ======================
- Open the Moulds directory and drag a Mould onto your document.
- Open the DrawFiles directory and drag a drawing onto your
- document. Select both the Mould and drawing by clicking on them
- with the Adjust button. Choose the "Mould object" option and the
- drawing will be moulded into the shape of the Mould.
-
- Other Facilities
- ================
-
- SCALING
- Corner scaling allows an object to be scaled as in !Draw.
- Uniform scaling retains the x:y proportions.
- Edge scaling scales along either the x or y axis depending upon
- which half of the scaling ear is used.
- Magnify - as Uniform but line widths are also scaled.
-
- GROUPING
- Objects may be grouped together as in !Draw.
-
- BORDERS
- There are four borders supplied on this disc. They may be placed
- around any object or group of objects.
-

- shadows.
-
- TEXT TO PATH
