  17.  To see the demo animation files on this disc, just load Noot and then
  18.  double-click on a file.
  19.  Each file is a drastically-reduced version of the original in order to
  20.  squeeze as much as possible onto a single disc. The complete Noot package
  21.  comes on SIX discs!

  23.  You will need no help finding out which animated pictures are available in
  24.  "The Playroom" and "HowItWorks", but the following words are needed for the
  25.  other two files:
  26.   "Dweek": hop, vanish, salute
  27.   "Farm":  donkey, dog.
  28.  
  29. Various options are available from both the icon bar menu and the Noot menu.
  30. The icon bar Choices allows you to choose a font style for the text.
  31. The Noot menu Remote control allows you to pause an animation and set the
  32. sound level.

  36.  THE COMPLETE NOOT PACKAGE CONTAINS:

  38.  1. NOOTPAD
  39.  This is an integral part of the complete Noot package which allows you to
  40.  create your own animated Noot files. The source pictures for each animation
  41.  are Draw files created using Acorn’s Draw or our very own Vector package
  42.  which has a number of facilities to aid the creation of suitable drawings.
  43.  The ‘artistically-impaired’ (most of us?) can create animations just as
  44.  easily as those with an abundance of artistic talent by using ready-made
  45.  Draw files such as those from our smArt collection.
  46.  
  47.  The completed Draw files are dropped onto the pages of NootPad where a
  48.  number of options are available to control the way in which the picture is
  49.  animated. Music, in the form of readily-available Tracker tunes, can be used
  50.  to accompany the animations.

  52.  Teachers who have used Noot in workshops at both ends of the world have been
  53.  impressed by the ease with which simple pictures can be brought to life. For
  54.  the more adventurous, quite complex animations can be created.

  57.  2. SIX ANIMATED FILES
  58.  
  59.  (a) Playroom
  60.  A delightful set of animations. Each of the 10 toys in the playroom can be
  61.  animated if the appropriate word is typed in. A number of alternative words
  62.  are allowed so, for example, the engine will work in response to train,
  63.  loco, locomotive, steam engine, engine, steam train, or steam locomotive.

  65.  (b) Dweek
  66.  This lovable creature can perform a number of actions if an appropriate
  67.  response is made to the query, “This is Dweek. What can he do? Dweek can _.”
  68.  
  69.  (c) Dweep
  70.  This is the equally lovable female counterpart of Dweek (although it has to
  71.  be said that her dribbling is not particularly attractive!).

  73.  (d) How It Works
  74.  This impressive set of animations illustrates the workings of various
  75.  devices including a door lock, a human heart, a zip fastener and a sewing
  76.  machine. All Noot animations can be paused and then played a frame at a time
  77.  both forwards and backwards.

  79.  (e) Power
  80.  This file shows the inner workings of various engines, motors and their
  81.  constituent parts.

  83.  (f) Farm
  84.  There are 14 animals and 7 farm scenes in this file which has a musical
  85.  accompaniment and sound effects. As in all Noot files, the volume can be
  86.  controlled.

  88.  3. TUNES
  89.  
  90.  There are seven original Tracker tunes written exclusively for 4Mation.
  91.  These can be used in your own animations. Alternatively you can obtain tunes
  92.  for next to nothing from public domain libraries.
