Welcome to Purple X's Moria for the Macintosh v1.0b2.
------------------------------------------------
This version of Moria is based on UMoria 5.4.0, and save files are compatable with any other version of UMoria 5.4.0 running on another platforms. This is the first international public release of this implementation for the Macintosh and has several features over the original Moria ports.
* Speed. Moving around is much faster than in any previous Macintosh port. This is mainly due to completely rewritten I/O commands.
* Colour. Sure the latest "official" port has colour, but I think you'll agree that my implementation is nicer to look at and faster to use.
* Options Dialog. An optional extra, instead of setting game options using the '=' command, you can also set them via a dialog.
* Recall Window. All recall information (avaliable from the (r)ecall command) is optionaly presented in a seperate re-sizable window, which is very similar to the current Archimedes port, except it uses a proportional font and auto-wraps. Recall information also automatically appears in the window for each creature that you hit.
Memory.
-------
This version of moria requires about 550K of memory to run, it may run in slightly less, even down to around 500K, but I'm being on the safe side. It works perfectly under multifinder/System 7.0 and is 32bit clean.
Hints.
-----
If you find that moving around the screen is slow, but running is fast. Try setting your key-repeat and key-delay rates (via the Keyboard control panel) to the highest settings.
Opening Save files from other platforms.
-------------------------------------
Save files from other computers will not usualy have the creator/type information set correctly for Moria to recognize them. You will need to set the type to 'SAVE'. Moria will set everythin else up correctly when you next save the game. A small application is included in the package to do this automatically called "Change Type to Moria Save". Under system 7, just drag the save file to this application and everything will be done for you. Under system 6, launch the application and select the save file.
