  4.         Most created source materials (books, articles) have a natural
  5.         linearity.  For details of problems with linearity, see <jump>.

  7.         Because hypertext organizes and presents material by idea units,
  8.         source text is split into numerous fragments.  Each unit should:
  9.  
  10.                 -  contain a single idea
  11.                 -  seldom be multiple screens in length
  12.                 -  contain a title and source identification
  13.                 -  begin with a link to the previous fragment
  14.                 -  include a link to the next fragment
  15.  
  16.         As readability of text on a screen differs from that of paper:
  17.  
  18.                 -  break text into smaller paragraphs to increase readability
  19.                 -  add margin notes or subheads to show key ideas or flow
  20.                 -  at end of a paragraph or as a footnote add hypertext
  21.                    jumps with a maximum of 2-3 links per screen <jump>
