  9. PLEASE READ THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT BEFORE LOADING THE PROGRAM
  10. ONTO YOUR COMPUTER. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS
  11. AGREEMENT, DO NOT LOAD THE PROGRAM.

  13. Definitions
  14. The following definitions apply to the terms as they appear in this License:
  15. * "Gale-Force" means Gale-Force (the company)
  16. * "The Program ("Program") means the computer programs and documentation
  17.   included in this package.
  18. * "Demo Mode" means a version of the Program in which a file limit has been
  19.   imposed.
  20. * "Full Functionality Mode" means a version of The Program in which all
  21.   functions operate with no preset file limits.
  22.  
  23. License Grant
  24. Gale-Force grants you a nonexclusive license to:
  25. * Load the Program onto your computer's storage device from the media
  26.   provided.
  27. * Obtain from Gale-Force serial numbers to enable the purchased portion of
  28.   the Program to run in Full Functionality Mode.
  29. * Allow others to run Program in Demo Mode, unless or until requested by
  30.   Gale-Force not to do so.
  31. * Obtain from Gale-Force free email support for a period of 30 days following
  32.   issuance of your serial numbers.
  33.  
  34. You may not:
  35. * Remove or alter any of Gale-Force's copyright notices from any components of
  36.   Program.
  37. * Sublicense, rent or lease all or part of the Program, or codes.
  38. * Use the Program with the intent to violate any licensing agreements or
  39.   contracts.
  40. * Modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works, decompile, disassemble,
  41.   or otherwise reverse engineer or attempt to reverse engineer or derive
  42.   source code from all or any portion of the Program or anything incorporated
  43.   therein or permit or encourage any third party to do so.
  44. * Release the license codes to anyone else through any means, electronic,
  45.   physical, or otherwise, whatsoever.

  47. Violation of the above-stated rules may result in temporary or permanent
  48. revocation of this license and cancellation of the registration codes in the
  49. purchased portion of the Program.  Additionally, if the codes are released,
  50. the original licensee will be held responsible for damages, physical and estimated.

  52. Once serial numbers have been obtained from Gale-Force, the license to run the
  53. Program in Full Functionality Mode may be assigned to a computer, i.e.
  54. several persons may sequentially run the Program on the same computer.
  55.  
  56. Copyright and Other Restrictions
  57. The Program is owned by Gale-Force and is protected by the United States
  58. copyright laws and international treaty provisions.  Gale-Force  retains all
  59. rights not expressly granted. None of the components of the Program (including
  60. the documentation) may be copied, removed or altered, in whole or part, for any
  61. unauthorized use.

  63. Disclaimer of Warranty
  64. GALE-FORCE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING
  65. BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND
  66. FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE PROGRAM.  THE
  67. END-USER ASSUMES ALL RISK AS TO THE SUITABILITY, QUALITY, AND
  68. PERFORMANCE OF THE PROGRAM.  IN NO EVENT WILL GALE-FORCE, OR ITS DIRECTORS,
  69. OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES OR AFFILIATES, BE LIABLE TO THE END-USER FOR ANY
  70. CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES
  71. (INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS
  72. INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR BUSINESS INFORMATION, AND THE LIKE)
  73. ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PROGRAM OR
  74. ACCOMPANYING WRITTEN MATERIALS, EVEN IF GALE-FORCE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF
  75. THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

  77. GALE-FORCE'S LIABILITY TO THE END-USER (IF ANY) FOR ACTUAL DIRECT
  78. DAMAGES FOR ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER, AND REGARDLESS OF THE FORM
  79. OF THE ACTION, WILL BE LIMITED TO, AND IN NO EVENT SHALL EXCEED,
  80. THE AMOUNT ORIGINALLY PAID TO GALE-FORCE FOR THE LICENSE OF THE
  81. SOFTWARE.

  83. Gale-Force does not warrant that the Program will satisfy the requirements of
  84. your computer system, or that the Program or its documentation are without
  85. defect or error, or that the operation of the Program will be uninterrupted.

  87. No Gale-Force distributor, dealer, agent, or employee is authorized to make any
  88. warranty for the Program.

  90. U.S. Government Restricted Rights
  91. The Program and all accompanying written materials are provided with
  92. RESTRICTED RIGHTS.  Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is
  93. subject to restrictions as set forth in Restricted Rights in Technical Data
  94. and Computer Software Clause at FAR 52.227-7013(c)(1)(ii) or FAR 52.227-19.

  97. This Agreement constitutes the entire Agreement between you and Gale-Force.
  98. It is governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.

  102. Installation
  103. ------------
  104. 1. Copy or download the installation program to a directory (e.g. c:\shred\).
  105.  
  106. 2. Change to that directory (CD \SHRED)
  107.  
  108. 3. Type SETUP    and press [Enter].  It will expand.
  109.  
  110. 4. Type SHRED    to run the program.
  111.  
  112.  
  113. Known Problems
  114. --------------
  115. No problems.  However, we intend to enhance interface capabilities.
  116.  
  117. We've recently added "SEND TO" capability.  This means from the Explorer,
  118. you can now right-click files & select "Send To" Shredder95!
  119.  
  120. However, it is a bit limited in that it works for a small list of files or
  121. directories.  We intend to enhance it to many files.
  122.  
  123. Haven't seen any real problems so far.  However, we will keep this web
  124. page up to date: http://www.gale-force.com/shredder/bugs/

  126. Q. How do I report problems?
  127.  
  128. A. We need to know everything about your PC when you report a problem.
  129.    Please include the following information:
  130.  
  131.    1. What CPU?  (e.g. 486-33, P5-120, PPro-200, etc).
  132.    2. How much RAM?
  133.    3. What type and size of hard drive?
  134.    4. What version of Windows are you running?
  135.  
  136.    We also need to know all about your version of Shredder95 and other software.
  137.  
  138.    1. What version of Shredder95 (the exact version can be found in the Help
  139.       menu under About)?
  140.  
  141.    Please also answer the following questions where applicable:
  142.  
  143.    1. What is the problem?
  144.    2. How often does it occur?  Does it work sometimes?
  145.    3. Has it ever worked?  If so, when?  What has changed since then?
  146.    4. Do you get an error message?  If so, please report the error message
  147.       in detail or we won't be able to help.
  148.    5. Has any previous version of Shredder95 worked better?
  149.       If so, what version?
  150.    6. What *does* work?  Although you might normally report everything not
  151.       working it's also helpful to know if you can at least perform some
  152.       tasks.
  153.    7. Do you suspect anything?  If you think you know what might be causing
  154.       the problem please let us know.  Sometimes this helps more than
  155.       anything.
