  1. iQ Fact Sheet (known limitations)

  3. 1.  iQ IS compatible with Windows 95, and IS NOT compatible
  4.     with Windows 3.x or NT.
  5. 2.  iQ does not enhance CD audio...see "UltraQ" at www.qsound.ca
  6. 3.  iQ does not enhance 4 bit ADPCM audio.
  7. 4.  iQ does not enhance MIDI files

  9. iQ Installation Problems
  10. ******************************
  11. Q1.  I GET THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I AM INSTALLING iQ:
  12.        "A read only file, c:\qsound\iq\iq.exe, was found while 
  13.        attempting to copy files to the destination location. 
  14.        To overwrite the file, click the  Yes button, otherwise 
  15.        click the no button."  
  16.  
  17. A1. This means that iQ is already running on your PC.  You do not
  18.       need to re-install it.  Click on Cancel to stop the
  19.       re-installation of iQ.  If you click on Yes, you will get the 
  20.       following message "General file transfer error. 
  21.       Please check your target location and try again.
  22.         Error Number: -37
  23.         Related File: C\QSound\iQ\iQ.exe"
  24.  
  25.       Again, this means that iQ is already running on your PC.  
  26.       There is no need to re-install iQ.
  27.  
  28.       If you want to re-install iQ, double click on the "Q" logo 
  29.       in the task bar (by default, this is on the bottom 
  30.       right of the screen). This will bring up the "full" IQ
  31.       page...then, click on the "X" in the top right hand 
  32.       corner, and you will be prompted "Do you want to turn
  33.       iQ off?" Select "Yes".
  34.       Now you may reinstall the software.

  37. Other iQ Problems

  39. Q2. I AM RECEIVING THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE:
  40.       "iQ could not enhance the current audio, and is letting 
  41.       Windows play the audio unchanged"
  42.  
  43. A2. iQ does not enhance 4 bit ADPCM audio. And, we have tried
  44.       very hard to include all known sample rates (standards),
  45.       but, you may be playing a sample rate that is not included
  46.       in iQ. If this is the case, please report the sample rate,
  47.       and the site...and we may add this rate to our next release.

  49. Q3. I AM RECEIVING THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE:
  50.       "Unexpected error: The QSound audio processor is not
  51.       available".
  52.  
  53. A3. One or more of the following files has been deleted
  54.       or changed...QX32THK.DLL and / or QX32.DLL
  55.       To fix this problem, you must turn iQ off (see A.5)
  56.       then reinstall the software

  58. Q4. I AM RECEIVING THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE:
  59.       " could not start iQ....."
  60.  
  61. A4. One or more of the following files has been changed or
  62.       deleted...QX16.DLL, WI.DLL, iQ16.DLL
  63.       To fix this problem, you must turn IQ off (see A5),
  64.       then reinstall the software.

  66. Q5. MMTASK IS REPORTING ERRORS ON SHUTDOWN
  67.  
  68. A5. Some configurations will not allow iQ to close automatically
  69.       on Windows 95 shut down. If this is the case with your
  70.       machine turn IQ off before shutdown.
  71.  
  72. Q6. NOW THAT IQ IS INSTALLED, MY MACHINE IS VERY SLOW, OR
  73.         THE AUDIO IS "INTERMITTENT", OR iQ SEEMS TO CAUSE MY
  74.         MACHINE TO LOCK UP.

  76. A6. Either...you are running several applications at once, 
  77.        (Norton Anti Virus ?) in which case you should turn some
  78.        of them off when using iQ OR...your machine may not have 
  79.        enough power to run iQ.
  80.        The minimum recommended requirement is a P90 desktop equivalent
  81.         with 8 meg RAM.

  83. Q7. How can I get IQ to open minimized?

  85. A7. Use Windows Explorer to locate and open IQ16.INI
  86.      Change the settings to read:
  87.      OPEN MAXIMIZED=0
  88.      SAVE SETTINGS=1

  91. Q8. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IQ THAT IS NOT MENTIONED IN THIS LIST.
