  1. Did you know that GEnie's Kumbaya Festival
  2. RoundTable -- the first of its kind -- will be open
  3. for only a short time? That's because it's
  4. dedicated to the exciting Kumbaya Festival taking
  5. place in Toronto, Canada, on Sunday, September 4th.
  6. Many of Canada's most popular rock stars will
  7. perform at this benefit for victims of AIDS and
  8. their families, and even if you live half a world
  9. away, you can join in the festivities!
  10.   
  11. Special Kumbaya events are planned online that you
  12. won't want to miss. And you can participate
  13. extensively and still donate to this worthy cause
  14. since GEnie has decided to waive standard usage
  15. charges for the entire Kumbaya RoundTable on
  16. evenings and weekends at up to 2400 baud -- plus
  17. match your Kumbaya donation of up to $50.00 by
  18. crediting your GEnie account.

  20. Here's what's happening:

  22.  * GEnie representatives in Canada -- potentially
  23.    with you online -- will participate in
  24.    MuchMusic's all-day, coast to coast, live
  25.    broadcast of the Kumbaya Festival on Sunday,
  26.    September 4th.

  28.  * Standard usage charges for the Kumbaya
  29.    RoundTable Bulletin Board and Software Libraries
  30.    are being waived now, so you can find out about
  31.    the Festival ahead of time.

  33.  * GEnie members wishing to donate to the Kumbaya
  34.    Foundation to benefit AIDS victims will receive
  35.    matching credit to their GEnie accounts of up to
  36.    $50.00.

  38.  * Many of Canada's most popular rock stars will be
  39.    available to chat and answer questions in a
  40.    Real-Time Conference on Sunday, September 4th,
  41.    the day and evening of the Festival.

  43.  * A fabulous Kumbaya '94 album/CD/cassette is
  44.    available by order online, proceeds from which
  45.    will go to this worthy cause.

  48. Live Multimedia Event

  50. GEnie will be featured on Canada's MuchMusic live
  51. broadcast from the Kumbaya Festival all day Sunday,
  52. September 4th.

  54. This second annual Kumbaya Festival will feature
  55. unprecedented, novel pairings and collaborations by
  56. many of Canada's most popular rock stars including
  57. 54-40, Alex Lifeson, Ashley MacIsaac, Barney
  58. Bentall, Blue Rodeo, Cassandra Vasick, Change of
  59. Heart, Devon, Fifth Column, Doug Gilmour, Holly
  60. Cole, Jane Arden, Jane Siberry, Jughead Lee Aaron,
  61. Kim Mitchell, Lost Dakotas, Mae Moore, Micah
  62. Barnes, Moe Berg, Moxy Fruvous, Murray McLauchlan,
  63. The Rankin Family, Tomson Imaway, the cast of ROSE,
  64. Tom Cochrane, and many, many more -- in addition
  65. to last-minute, surprise guests.

  67. The Kumbaya Bulletin Board and Software Library
  68. (where you'll find biographies of popular
  69. performers and information about the festival) are
  70. free of standard connect charges now, and the
  71. Kumbaya Real-Time Conference will kick in on
  72. Sunday, the day of the Festival.

  76. While GEnie representatives participate in the
  77. Kumbaya Festival live on MuchMusic, the Kumbaya
  78. RoundTable's Real-Time Conference area will be open
  79. for you -- again, free of standard connect charges.
  80. There, you'll be able to chat with sysops and other
  81. rock music fans, and that evening you'll have a
  82. chance to chat with some of Canada's most famous
  83. rock stars as they answer questions and carry on as
  84. only rock stars can.

  86. Matching Donations

  88. It won't cost you a cent to donate up to $50.00 to
  89. the Kumbaya Festival.

  91. In an effort to encourage donations to benefit of
  92. victims of AIDS and their families, GEnie has
  93. decided to match all donations made online at the
  94. Kumbaya RoundTable main menu -- up to the amount of
  95. $50.00 -- by crediting your GEnie account with an
  96. equal amount.

  98. That menu option -- like the entire Kumbaya
  99. RoundTable -- is available now, free of standard
  100. usage charges. Please consider making a donation to
  101. help counter the devastation of AIDS, especially
  102. since it won't cost you anything at all.

  104. Kumbaya Album, CD or Cassette
  105.   
  106. A collection of some of the fabulous music
  107. performed at Kumbaya is available on an album, CD
  108. or cassette tape. Order the medium of your choice
  109. on Menu Option 7 at the Kumbaya RoundTable's main
  110. menu. Proceeds from these music sales will go to
  111. the Kumbaya Foundation, and popular rock songs on
  112. the CD include:
