- Hello, and welcome to JetBBS! I hope everything has gone smoothly so
- far. Here are some more tips on setting up the BBS:
-
- A few people have had trouble finding the commands to add transfer areas
- and door programs. To add transfer areas, use the [7] command in the
- sysop menu. You get to the sysop menu by pressing [*]. To add door
- games to the BBS once you've set them up in their own sub-directory,
- press [6] in the sysop menu. The [6] and [7] commands are intended as
- simple editors for the MNU\DOOR.MNU and MNU\XFERAREA.MNU files. You can
- still edit the files directly if the editors don't do what you want.
-
- I recorded an example session of myself setting up the rooms, doors, and
- transfer sections that may be helpful to you. The file is EXAMPLE.DOC.
-
- There is a lot of confusion about the door chain files DORINFO1.DEF,
- CALLINFO.BBS, CHAIN.TXT, and DOOR.SYS. You will not find these files
- sitting around in the BBS directory, because they are created when the
- door program is run and deleted when it exits. They contain current
- information such as the user's name and how much time is left. They
- are generally created in the BBS directory unless the `setdoordir`
- command is used.
-
- If you are using Windows 3.1 or higher, be sure to read the file
- WINDOWS.DOC, and the Windows 3.x section in MANUAL.DOC. You can run
- JetBBS in the background in a Windows DOS box, so you can still use your
- computer without taking the BBS down.
-
- You can run JetBBS in the doorway of another BBS or with a mail front
- end by running it with "JETBBS /D /O". Type "JETBBS /?" for a list of
- command line switches.
-
- If you need any further help, or have other questions, please send me
- e-mail at tbeckstr@prostar.com, or call the support BBS at (206)LAB-TEAM.
- Be sure to give me an e-mail or postal address to reply to, and tell me
- where you found JetBBS.
-
- Thanks,
- Troy Beckstrom
